 Difference between Rusd and Waqf

A Rusd differs from an Endowment(Waqf) in some aspects.

  • The Rusd contract was not known at the time of Prophet Companions or their followers but has come into being later because of scholarly diligence.

  • A Rusd imparts ownership of usufructs while fixing the asset. An endowment, however, fixes the asset and communalizes the usufructs.
  • A Rusd does not require ownership of property. Unlike an Endowment, a Rusd can be for usufructs only.
  • A Rusd can be for property as in endowment or can be for only usufructs.
  • A Rusd can be transformed to whatever achieves greater benefit. It is sufficient to reveal the greater benefits to be obtained.
